Senior Aircraft Avionics Technician - NHC (Contract)

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Aircraft Avionics Technician to join the New Helicopter Completions team in Columbus, MS. This is a temporary (contract) position employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.

About the role

You will perform assembly, installation, repair, or replacement of aircraft electrical/electronic components and systems in the manufacture, maintenance, or refurbishing of aircraft, as well as function checks of components.

Responsibilities

• Maintain close working relationship with assigned lead regarding schedules, priorities, availability of parts, supplies, tools, and special instructions.
• Perform work from blueprints, sketches, vendor and service manuals, and other source data to obtain dimensions, locations, alignment, tolerances, and other specification requirements.
• Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices, and test equipment in completing work assignments.
• Ensure completed work complies with FAA regulations, customer requirements, and company specifications.

Requirements

• Minimum of six (6) years of experience working on avionics in aircraft, preferably rotorcraft.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and apply standard shop practices in fabrication and repair modifications of aircraft structures.
• Current A&P license is a plus.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Must be able to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship.

• Speaking: Able to participate in conversations and meetings, deliver information, and communicate effectively. [Daily]
• Equipment Operation: Able to operate personal computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, electronic identification cards, and some production tools such as hydraulic lifts. [Daily]
• Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 60 lbs. [Daily]
• Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 60 lbs. [Daily]
• Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull equipment and tools. [Daily]
• Sitting: Able to sit for long periods at the aircraft, backshop equipment, in meetings, or while working on a computer. [Daily]
• Squatting/Kneeling: Must be able to bend, stoop, and squat; move freely in areas with moving aircraft and parts; work in areas with exposure to chemicals and fumes. [Daily]
• Standing: Able to stand at the aircraft to perform work or during discussions in offices or on the production floor. [Daily]
• Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice. [Several times yearly]
• Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces. [Daily]
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and/or protective gloves as required by site or customer.

Working Environment

Columbus, MS, is home to Airbus Helicopters' manufacturing and assembly lines and the Center of Excellence for the North America region. The facility produces the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army and the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.
