Senior Addiction Liaison Nurse - Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service

About the role

The role involves joining Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team. The team supports individuals with complex alcohol and drug problems, often in high-risk situations, by providing specialist assessment, engagement, treatment, and harm reduction support.

Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with individuals, families, and various professional agencies to provide compassionate, person-centred care.
• Support people with complex alcohol and drug problems through specialist assessment, engagement, treatment, and risk management interventions.
• Provide assertive outreach and harm reduction support, especially during periods of heightened vulnerability such as release from prison, discharge from hospital, high-risk crisis situations, and non-fatal overdoses.
• Act as a key link between acute hospitals, liaison psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services, and other partner organizations to ensure effective communication, care coordination, and continuity of support.

Requirements

• Skills and experience required to work with individuals experiencing complex alcohol and drug-related issues and associated risks.
• Experience of multidisciplinary working, risk assessment, care coordination, and collaborative work with healthcare, statutory, and third-sector partners.
• A registered nurse with Level 1 NMC registration and relevant experience in addiction services or relevant community nursing experience at Band 5.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Evidence of active and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Qualifications and/or experience

Pay

The salary for this role is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This is a permanent post working full-time hours (36), Monday to Friday. The role is based within the Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team at Wellpark Centre.
