Senior Addiction Liaison Nurse - Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service

About the role

The role involves joining Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team. The team supports individuals with complex alcohol and drug problems, often in high-risk situations, and collaborates with various healthcare and community services.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with complex alcohol and drug problems through specialist assessment, engagement, treatment, and risk management interventions.
• Provide assertive outreach and harm reduction support, particularly during periods of heightened vulnerability such as release from prison, discharge from hospital, and high-risk crisis situations.
• Act as a key link between acute hospitals, liaison psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services, and other partner organizations to ensure effective communication, care coordination, and continuity of support.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with Level 1 NMC registration and relevant experience in addiction services or relevant community nursing experience at Band 5.
• Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Experience of multidisciplinary working, risk assessment, care coordination, and working collaboratively with healthcare, statutory, and third-sector partners.
• Understanding of harm reduction approaches, addiction services, and person-centred care principles.
• Active and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Qualifications and/or experience

You will have the skills and experience required to work with individuals experiencing complex alcohol and drug-related issues and associated risks. You will demonstrate compassionate and caring behaviors, excellent communication and partnership-working skills, and the ability to engage effectively with vulnerable individuals.

Schedule

This is a permanent post working full-time hours (36), Monday to Friday, based within the Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team at Wellpark Centre.
