About the role
The Senior Accounting Manager oversees the corporate accounting team and ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
Responsibilities
- Direct oversight of day-to-day and monthly general ledger transactions
- Supervise and oversee the corporate GL accounting team
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany eliminations
- Work with other departments to obtain necessary information to create monthly/quarterly accruals
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of financial records by comparing and resolving discrepancies between different sets of data, such as bank statements and internal records
- Review general ledger expense accounts monthly for documentation, consistency, and accuracy
- Prepare or review branch level and business unit financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare or review account reconciliations to appropriately support balances
- Collaborate with senior team members to streamline and enhance process efficiencies
- Coordinate and support external and internal audit processes, providing necessary documentation and resolving any audit findings
- Assist in preparation of tax documentation
- Develop a high-performing accounting team to support business unit, branch, or corporate functions
- Proactively develop solutions to shorten the monthly account close
- Additional duties or special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, preferably within a large organization
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex accounting standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and reconciliation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to physically sit at a desk for long periods, operate a computer, and listen/speak clearly on the phone and in-person
