Security Technology (Low Voltage) Designer
Responsibilities
- Provide technical design for discipline area.
- Peer review project work for the discipline area.
- Work with team members in establishing/improving standards for discipline area.
- Adhere to project design schedules.
- Adhere to discipline project budgets.
- Pay attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services.
- Provide general updates of projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, etc.).
- Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time for good design coordination.
- Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates.
- Cook up with all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma required.
- Required certifications include: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or Physical security Professional (PSP) certifications.
- Accomplished (3+ years of experience) in low voltage systems including: Structured cabling, both inside and outside plant Electronic Physical Access Control Video Surveillance Intrusion Detection Overhead Paging Audio/Visual Nurse Call Real Time Locating Systems Infant (and memory care) Protection Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems.
- Experience in the following systems a plus: Knowledge of the design and construction process Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills Experience in the design of low voltage systems, and an understanding of document preparation utilizing a BIM/Revit platform Well organized with the ability to take detailed notes Strong conceptual understanding of low voltage systems with general knowledge of system operation, space requirements, and cost.
