Position Summary
Telios is seeking a Technology / Low Voltage Designer to join our Technology team. This position is responsible for the design and documentation of structured cabling, audiovisual (A/V), access control, video surveillance, and other low-voltage systems for healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, higher education, and sports facilities.
Responsibilities
- Design structured cabling, telecommunications, audiovisual, access control, video surveillance, and related technology systems for new construction and renovation projects
- Develop technology system layouts, floor plans, riser diagrams, details, schedules, and specifications
- Utilize Revit to create and maintain project models and construction documents
- Review architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings to coordinate technology system designs with other building systems
- Participate in site visits and field investigations to document existing conditions and verify project requirements
- Perform system sizing, equipment selection, device layouts, pathway design, and technology infrastructure planning
- Cook up with project managers, architects, engineers, owners, and vendors during the design process
- Aid with the preparation of construction documents, technical specifications, and project deliverables
- Respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, and construction administration inquiries as assigned
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements
- Maintain project schedules and meet established deadlines while managing multiple assignments
Minimum Criteria
- Associate's degree, technical degree, or equivalent professional experience in telecommunications, low-voltage systems, engineering technology, drafting, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience designing low-voltage and technology systems for commercial buildings
- Working knowledge of structured cabling, audiovisual systems, access control, and video surveillance systems
- Proficiency with Revit required
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards, including BICSI, TIA/EIA, and relevant building codes
- Strong understanding of construction documents and building coordination practices
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality deliverables
