Security Specialist (Non Merit)

Description

The Facilities Division is hiring a Security Specialist that provides Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) security measures for facilities and grounds within jurisdiction of the Department of Military Affairs.

Responsibilities

• Provides DTRA security measures for facilities and grounds within jurisdiction of the DMA.
• Provides DTRA security measures to include but not limited to controlling entry and exit of military and civilian personnel, vehicles and other equipment at various entry control points, stands guard and patrols to ensure buildings and grounds are properly secure, conducts person and vehicle searches, secures crime and incident scenes and participates in response to intrusions or attacks as a member of emergency response force.
• Operates vehicles, communication equipment, intrusion detection devices, weapons and other special purpose security equipment; insures the operating condition and maintenance of all assigned equipment.
• Responsible for attending and completing all annual training provided by state and federal government.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in law enforcement, security, the military or a related field will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Special Requirements

• Must be twenty-one years of age.

Working Conditions

Probationary Period: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

Salary: $46,760.48 Annually | Pay Grade 10 | Full Time | Eligible for Overtime Pay | 40.0 HR/WK
