About the role
Will perform the security background checks on all personnel requiring unescorted access at a plant. Also involved with in-processing of individuals during peak/outage periods.
Responsibilities
- Perform analytical duties in support of security investigations, re-investigations and functions in order to determine trustworthiness of individuals who will work or provide services for the company
- Mitigate security and compliance risks associated with insider threats (e.g. fraud, theft, domestic terrorism, workplace violence, and reputational damage) by performing personnel risk assessments and adjudicating background investigations
- Follow regulatory procedures and controls (e.g., NERC, FERC) to ensure that necessary background investigations are conducted for employees, applicants for employment, and contractors
- Serve as an advisor on background investigation security concepts and policies and provide interpretation and guidance
- Manage daily background checks, monitor progress, analyze sensitive/complex cases, research data, prepare reports, and adjudicate results/recommend hiring decisions with HR/Legal
- Work with third-party background screening vendors; Sterling First Advantage is currently used
Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma
- Must have 3 - 5 years of previous customer service or administrative experience
- Bachelor's preferred; 2-5 years investigation/analyst experience ideal
- Must have Excel, Outlook, PC/Desktop skills, knowledge of physical security, audits/compliance, strong analytical ability, organization, multitasking, and excellent written/verbal communication
- Project management experience preferred
- Strong third-party background investigation/vendor experience is a major plus
- Background: Investigations, Security/compliance, Risk, HR, Talent Acquisition/recruiting are all acceptable
- Energy experience is helpful but not required; candidates from other industries can be considered
- Must be able to pivot between tasks, identify issues, speak up when something doesn't look right, and handle investigations that may become more complex
