Security Project Technician 3

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Security Technician to join our team. About the Role

You will be responsible for installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. These projects vary in size and complexity. You will deliver projects effectively within budgeted cost and time schedules, act as the key technical interface for customer support, and maximize customer satisfaction. You may also mentor less-experienced staff.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
• Act as the primary technical support and training interface for customers, ensuring high satisfaction.
• Read complex blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation requirements.
• Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to repair equipment using knowledge of electronics and advanced test instruments.
• Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
• Write non-routine programs of substantial variety and complexity for systems.
• Ensure Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service by embodying "our customer’s best service provider" mindset.
• Take ownership of onsite projects, including safety, quality, and performance.
• Provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning, systems audits, consultation, and/or database management.
• Install, configure, and support network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
• Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
• Perform all work in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as company health and safety policies.
• Use troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
• Advise management on customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques, and product improvements.
• Participate in or assist with developing customer presentations or new business development activities.
• Execute technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets, including preparation of project deliverables (submittals, shop drawings, training documentation, programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and ongoing technical support).
• Identify potential project risks, communicate them to appropriate parties, and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
• Work closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager to coordinate projects, supervise subcontractors, and recommend quality improvements or scope changes.
• Mentor and train less-experienced staff, and provide performance feedback to management.
• Supervise workers in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to achieve optimum performance.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure while consistently meeting customer needs.
• Strong technical skills and experience with building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
• Ability to adapt procedures, processes, and tools to meet complex job requirements.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Advanced math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
• Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred (but not required): Experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation industries.
