About the role
As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a chemical/petrochemical location in Houston, TX, you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, manage badge access, and conduct routine patrols. Your visible presence will help deter incidents while you provide professional communication and customer service to employees and visitors. This is a part-time position offering flexible scheduling through our Claim a Shift platform.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, contractors, and delivery drivers by following site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a chemical/petrochemical location.
- Monitor and control access points by verifying credentials, maintaining visitor and contractor logs, issuing access materials as authorized, and reporting discrepancies through established procedures.
- Observe vehicle and pedestrian entry and exit activity, inspect authorized deliveries as directed, and assist with maintaining orderly traffic flow at controlled access areas.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and emergency responders as required.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access-control areas, business grounds, and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
Requirements
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
