Security Officer Full Time Housing Intake Facility

About the role

As an Unarmed Security Officer supporting a government services location in New York, NY, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and provide outstanding customer service and communication. You will assist visitors and staff while reporting observations and responding professionally to site needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, staff, visitors, and individuals accessing government social services by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns to appropriate site contacts and/or emergency services as directed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned areas, building entrances, common spaces, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site procedures, reporting unauthorized access attempts, hazards, and unusual activity to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain required activity logs for incidents, patrols, and security-related observations.

Requirements

• Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Pass a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

$18.87 / hour
