About the role
This Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced position is a flexible, dependable option for individuals looking to supplement income, gain hands-on experience, or work toward a full-time career. As an Enhanced Part Time Unarmed Patrol Route Accountability Security Officer in Brooklyn, NY, you’ll have reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility to earn more by picking up additional shifts.
This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week, with the option to scale back when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control practices, and emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; document observations and report security-related concerns according to site procedures.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the shelter location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and the surrounding perimeter, helping to deter unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorized entry when required, and assist with maintaining an orderly environment for residents and staff.
- Complete daily activity reports and incident reports accurately, and communicate relevant information to site management and Allied Universal leadership.
Requirements
- Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
- Be 21 years of age or older (18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles).
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Pass a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Pay
$18.87 per hour.
Schedule
- DayTime shifts:
- Monday: 12:00 AM – 08:00 AM
- Tuesday: 12:00 AM – 08:00 AM
- Sunday: 12:00 AM – 08:00 AM
Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule, requiring a six (6) month commitment.
