About the role

As an Access Control Officer supporting an aerospace and defense location in Norfolk, VA, you will manage access points, verify credentials, monitor entry activity, and help to deter security-related incidents through a visible, professional presence. You will provide exceptional customer service and clear communication while working collaboratively with site personnel.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors at an aerospace and defense location by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials and authorization, process visitor and contractor entry, and maintain accurate access-control records in accordance with site procedures.
• Respond to access-control alarms, incidents, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns through established reporting channels.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned facilities, controlled areas, and perimeter locations to identify and report unusual conditions, unauthorized access attempts, and security-related concerns.
• Support Allied Universal and site leadership by documenting incidents, completing required reports, and communicating professionally with employees, visitors, and applicable response personnel.

Requirements

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
