About the role
As an Armed Patrol Security Officer in Suffolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as healthcare. You will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to deter incidents, respond to security-related concerns, and provide professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff. This role supports a caring environment through clear communication, teamwork, and integrity while representing Allied Universal’s agile, reliable, and innovative approach.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities within a healthcare location.
- Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, disturbances, and other critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
- Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential security-related concerns.
- Monitor access points and verify credentials as required, maintaining orderly access for authorized individuals while supporting patient privacy and facility operations.
- Prepare accurate incident reports and communicate observations, hazards, and security-related concerns to site leadership and Allied Universal management.
Requirements
- Possess an armed guard card or license.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Customer service experience and comfort using a computer or tablet are preferred.

$22.18 per hour
