William R. Sharpe, Jr. Hospital, located in Weston, West Virginia, is a 200-bed acute psychiatric care facility owned and operated by the West Virginia Department of Health Facilities. The hospital holds accreditation from The Joint Commission and certification by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS). It offers a wide range of services to patients either committed through civil commitment or, in the case of forensic patients, ordered through the judicial system. Through collaboration with West Virginia University’s Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry, medical and clinical professionals work with the hospital’s staff to help patients transition back to the community after discharge.
