About the Role
This position provides secretarial support to the Assistant Deputy Warden(s) office within the facility. Duties include handling confidential information, completing standard secretarial tasks, and contributing to special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Sort and distribute mail
- Compose routine correspondence
- Schedule and arrange meetings and appointments
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- For Secretary 7: Two years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to 6-level administrative support experience
- For Secretary E8: Three years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to experienced-level administrative support work or equivalent to a Secretary 7 or Legal Secretary 7
- Must meet ethical standards for state classified service employment
- Must report any possible conflict of interest
Additional Information
The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants convicted of a felony under Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment until satisfactory completion of any sentence, including parole or probation.
New hires and returning employees (after more than two years away) must complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET), consisting of 40 or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on offender contact and job classification, plus additional online training.
