Seasonal Parks Worker

About the role

The Department of Community Services Division of Parks & Recreation seeks a Seasonal Parks Worker to perform manual labor for various temporary maintenance work at County-owned or controlled parks and related improvements.

Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds and landscaping of the County park properties.
• Paints the interior and exterior of buildings and equipment.
• Opens, closes, and secures County buildings or park property as directed.
• Repairs and cleans sidewalks and other outdoor surfaces.
• Picks-up and/or delivers goods and equipment as required, using a County vehicle.
• Removes ice and snow from sidewalks and other areas.
• Moves equipment and materials as required.
• Performs custodial or security work as required.
• Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs to equipment.
• Performs carpentry and plumbing tasks as required.
• Installs and maintains equipment and lights.
• Performs related work as required.

Requirements

• Requires High school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) or more years of experience that includes landscaping maintenance, general maintenance work, and equipment operation or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Knowledge of and skill in the methods and practices of lawn and grounds care, painting, minor carpentry, plumbing, and other trade areas.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to do manual labor.
• Regular and timely attendance.
• Performance of duties in a safe manner.
• Must pass testing for substance abuse and criminal background investigation.
• Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes harmonious relations with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Direct deposit of pay required.

Qualifications

• Physical Demands: Requires sufficient arm, hand, and finger dexterity to demonstrate physical activities and use a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Requires sufficient ambulatory ability to stand, walk and demonstrate activities for intermittent periods of time. Must be able to perform other physical activities.
