Seasonal Laborer - Wastewater Treatment Plant

Job Summary

Contributes to the mission of the Wastewater Treatment Plant by performing maintenance work including mowing, weed eating, and other maintenance duties as assigned.

Job Duties

• Affords assistance with general labor duties related to grounds maintenance and equipment maintenance such as mowing, painting, weed eating, janitorial duties, light brush and tree trimming, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned.
• Operates a riding lawn mower, push lawn mower, weed eater, basic hand tools, and a truck pulling a trailer.
• Demonstrates the ability to use and wear personal protective equipment required in hazardous environments and emergency situations.
• Communicates orally and in writing, including using the telephone and two-way radio.
• Represents the City of Manhattan professionally and courteously with the public and other City employees.
• Affords assistance to supervisors and other departmental personnel in other projects for the benefit of the City and/or department.
• Comprehends and learns standardized work procedures and practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Six (6) months experience in grounds maintenance preferred.

Other Information

• This is not a KPERS covered position.
• Seasonal position (May - Dec).
• Physical Demands/Work Environment: Work is performed in a potentially noisy environment. Stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle, feel, speak, hear, climb stairs, push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
