Seasonal Maintenance Laborer

Essential Job Functions

• Mow grass, trim, edge sidewalks and curbs, maintain landscapes and clean up litter;
• May assist in making repairs to streets, signs, guard rails or other traffic warning devices;
• May assist in street painting by setting traffic cones or other warning devices;
• Performs simple various grounds, facilities, and maintenance tasks at city-owned buildings;
• Operates various types of trucks and equipment;
• Performs related work as required.

Skills/Knowledges/Abilities

• Knowledge of the practices, tools and materials involved in the performance of semi-skilled tasks within the work area assigned.
• Ability to perform semi-skilled tasks without close supervision.
• Ability to perform general labor for extended periods and under unfavorable weather conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to get along well with fellow employees and the public.
• Some background using basic types of hand and power tools.

Minimum Qualification

• Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.

Both are established by Ohio law and participation is required. Both the employee and the City of Hamilton contribute a percentage (pre-tax) into the system. Members do not pay into the Federal Social Security System. Employees and the City also contribute to Medicare.
