About the Opportunity
The Scrum Master/Team Coach role supports cross-functional teams within a secure, cloud-based modernization environment for a Department of the Workforce (DoW) customer. The position is responsible for coaching teams on Scrum and SAFe practices, facilitating effective Agile ceremonies, removing obstacles, and enhancing coordination across delivery teams. This role contributes to the organization by promoting sustainable delivery practices and continuous improvement without assuming product ownership or technical responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Coach team members in self-management, cross-functionality, shared ownership, and sustainable delivery
- Ensure Scrum events are purposeful, productive, timeboxed, and focused on inspection and adaptation
- Help teams focus on valuable increments meeting acceptance criteria and Definition of Done
- Identify, escalate, and drive removal of impediments, dependencies, and organizational barriers
- Support Product Owners with Product Goal clarity, backlog refinement, and stakeholder collaboration
- Facilitate planning, reviews, retrospectives, daily coordination, and cross-team synchronization
- Use flow, quality, predictability, and outcome measures to guide improvements without metric-driven pressure
- Coordinate with engineering, testing, security, data, and platform personnel to support integrated DevSecOps delivery
- Track and communicate team impediments, dependencies, risks, decisions, and improvement actions
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability standards of the DoW customer environment
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship; prior professional experience supporting the U.S. Federal Government as employee or contractor
- 7+ years of professional experience including Agile delivery, facilitation, or team coaching
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent, or 4 additional years of relevant experience
- Current Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent Scrum certification
- Experience coaching cross-functional software teams in Scrum and scaled Agile coordination
- Expertise in conflict resolution, dependency management, retrospectives, and continuous improvement
- Ability to analyze delivery, flow, quality, and team-health metrics and translate into actionable coaching
- Active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoW-approved cybersecurity certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Excellent facilitation, written communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
- Active Tier 2 background investigation or higher, completed or favorably adjudicated within the last 18 months
