Scientist - Cell Biology

About the role

This is a 12-month onsite temporary assignment located in Kalamazoo, MI. The pay rate is $50.00–58.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Perform cell culture of primary cells and complete various cell-based assays independently.
• Conduct high-throughput sample testing in an organized and timely manner.
• Maintain excellent aseptic technique and ensure sterility/quality of cell culture and assay outcomes.
• Work safely within a BSL-2 laboratory environment.
• Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks, prepare precise technical report summaries, analysis, and appropriate documentation.
• Handle basic laboratory management, multitasking, and experimental troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Master of Science degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline with emphasis in molecular and cell biology, immunology, or related fields, with 3–5 years of hands-on experience, or PhD with 0–2 years of postdoctoral experience.
• Training and experience with cell culture (primary cell isolation, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, RNAi, etc.).
• Working knowledge of and/or skills in the cell biology field (pipetting, aseptic technique, preparing media, cell-based assay work, etc.).
• Ability to perform basic dilution and stoichiometric calculations.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong oral and written communication skills.
• Comfort working within a fast-paced lab environment, ability to work independently with ambiguity, and as part of a team with self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
