About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to join our Neuroscience team. In this role, you will contribute to understanding neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and support drug discovery efforts using cell culture systems. This position offers the opportunity to expand your scientific skillset while performing hands-on laboratory work.

Responsibilities

• Perform cell-based functional assays in support of neuroscience drug discovery projects.
• Provide technical support to project teams to achieve critical research objectives and timelines.
• Conduct hands-on laboratory work, including routine cell and biochemistry assays:
  • Prepare solutions and culture media.
  • Maintain multiple cell lines, including primary neuronal cultures.
  • Measure biochemical or functional parameters in cells using techniques such as microscopy, live fluorescence imaging, immunocytochemistry, calcium imaging, morphology, and live/dead cell assays.
• Perform biochemical assays such as qPCR, AlphaScreen, ELISA, MSD, and SDS-PAGE.
• Process and report data generated from assays under supervision.
• Maintain accurate records of all practical work using an electronic lab notebook to meet quality standards.
• Ensure a tidy and efficient laboratory environment while adhering to health and safety standards.
• Help manage lab inventory and update related tracking files.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a similar field) with 4-6 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Demonstrated experience with aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture (experience with iPSCs is a plus).
• Competence in molecular biology laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques, such as qPCR, Western Blotting, and immunofluorescence.
• Strong understanding of biology lab safety requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, work planning, data analysis, troubleshooting, and record-keeping skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with self-motivation, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background and interest in neurodegenerative disease research, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and ALS.
• Hands-on experience with iPSCs and neuronal differentiation.
• Experience with electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) documentation.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with overtime as needed.

Pay

$32.00 to $41.00 per hour, based on education and related experience.
