About the role

Under supervision, Instructional Student Assistants (ISA) in this classification perform grading, tutoring, and/or laboratory assistance duties for most work hours in a given appointment in the School of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) over the course of an academic term. Assignments are made by the School of Computer Science and Engineering department or a CSE faculty member at California State University, San Bernardino. The work may be performed on campus and the hours assigned must be approved by the Director of CSE.

Requirements

The applicant must show evidence of satisfactory progress toward completing their degree. Instructional Student Assistants must remain academically eligible by maintaining a graduate GPA of 2.5 or higher. The applicant must also maintain continuous enrollment and cannot be on probation during this time.

Candidates must be admitted or registered in a program at CSUSB.

Candidates must possess the ability to learn and perform assigned work, work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students, and accept responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates working towards a graduate level degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field at the time of appointment
  • Candidates with good academic standing at CSUSB
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued
  • Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application

Special Conditions

  • The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
