Essential Job Functions
- Communicate Daily with Office
- Radio Check AM/PM daily
- Report to base in a timely manner as assigned by office
- Do a daily pre-check of vehicle before starting run and post check on completion of run
- Do a step by step check as stipulated by State and company policy
- Check fluid / gas levels and if needed fill
- Report any problems or deficiencies of vehicles
- Know safety features of each vehicle and ensure that they are in working order
- Upkeep of vehicle is responsibility of driver – washing (weekly), detailing (2 hours monthly)
- Uniform must be worn daily including company ID
- Issued shirt, black/khaki pants, black covered shoes
- Set up routes / times of pickup with parents
- Know rules that apply to pick up and release of students
- Learn and complete all forms that are required for reporting occurrences on / off vehicles, observation of child (markings, bruises, etc.), problems that transpire on bus (ST15) – Report to Supervisor
- Complete Time Sheets, Rider Counts – turn in daily
- Mets all requirements of position on a regular basis – passing of DOT Physical, yearly updates of Traffic Abstract or Hawaii Driver History Record & Criminal Abstracts, State Fingerprint Abstract, TB tests, random testing, etc.
- Provide exceptional customer service to schools, students, community
- Attend all training (in uniform)
Essential Skills
- High School diploma or GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum age to drive – 21 years old
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Able to write routine reports and correspondence
- Able to speak effectively and communicate on several levels (adults, children, management)
- Able to pass a DOT physical
- Valid driver’s license, clean Hawaii Driver History Record and Criminal Abstract
- Able to upgrade to CDL
- First Aid, CPR Certified
- Pass DDC (Defensive Driving Course)
- Must meet/adhere to, all requirements of FMCSA, DOT, FTA and DOE as applicable
- Learn and pass test on Title 19
- Must meet all team deadlines and responsibilities, listens to others and values opinions, helps team leader to meet goals, welcomes newcomers, and promotes a team atmosphere

- Minimum of 18 years old
- Be able to provide a valid government issued photo identification card (i.e. State ID, State Driver’s License, passport, Military ID)
Working Conditions/Job Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk and sit for sustained periods of time
- Medium work- exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects
- Stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting for extended periods of time
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
