About the role
The School Age Enrichment Leader is a vital member of a team of professionals dedicated to providing high-quality care and enrichment for school-aged children (K-5th grade) during out-of-school hours, holidays, and camp days. The position operates Monday through Friday from 2:15 PM to 6:30 PM, with full-time coverage during days when Collier County Public Schools are closed.
Responsibilities
- Be familiar with YMCA mission, policies, and procedures.
- Implement components of the Program as directed by supervisor.
- Keep the supervisor informed of all program issues as they arise, especially those related to children's behavior and development.
- Aid in Program procedures for opening and/or closing each day.
- Take overall responsibility for an assigned group of children under the direction of the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate daily attendance records at all times.
- Always monitor and ensure the safety of children.
- Become familiar with school facilities and staff, and ensure compliance with school expectations.
- Report all problems, incidents, and accidents to supervisor as they occur.
- Complete written incident and accident reports as necessary with assistance of Supervisor, following YMCA policies and procedures.
- Nurture children by designing lesson plans that include purposeful programming to develop social-emotional skills, foster achievement, support academic growth, and provide enrichment.
- Maintain and preserve all Program equipment and supplies.
- Empower students to make positive choices and encourage them to serve as role models among their peers.
- Promote a positive relationship with parents by greeting them daily, sharing good news about their children, and promptly informing them of any relevant information.
- Be an enthusiastic, dedicated, reliable, and committed leader of our team.
Requirements
- Must obtain state-mandated training of 45 hours with a competency exam completed within 90 days of hire.
- Certification in Infant, Child, and Adult CPR, and Basic First Aid (preferred).
- At least 18 years old.
- Own transportation required.
- Available to work full-day shifts on days when Collier County Public Schools are closed.
- Must be physically capable of standing, remaining outdoors, maintaining continuous physical endurance for extended periods, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, watching, listening, and facilitating group activities.
- Must be mentally alert and able to process and follow directions.
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
