This is a fully remote, part-time position. Must be within driving distance of West MI.
Schedule
- Per diem, as needed, 9a – 5:30p
- No weekends or holidays
- First two weeks of EPIC training are M-F, 8a-4:30p
Responsibilities
- Perform all pre-service account financial clearance and collection prior to the date of service
- Obtain and verify accurate insurance information, benefit validation, authorization, and pre-service collections
- Initiate the overall patient experience and the billing process for any services provided by the hospital
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two to five years’ experience in scheduling, financial clearance, or patient access
- National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire
- Proficiency in Patient Registration/Patient Accounting systems and related software
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial clearance and insurance verification processes with two years of financial clearance experience in an acute care setting
Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Associate’s Degree
- Comprehensive knowledge of scheduling with mastery in at least three or more modalities and insurance verification processes with three years of scheduling experience in an acute care setting
- Experience in complex facility-based ancillary testing across multiple facilities/states
- Strong knowledge of third-party and government payer billing and reimbursement guidelines, as well as department performance standards and policies and procedures
