Scheduling Specialist

This is a fully remote, part-time position; candidates must be within driving distance of West MI.

Schedule

• Per diem, as needed, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• No weekends or holidays
• First two weeks of EPIC training: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Perform all pre-service account financial clearance and collections prior to the date of service
• Obtain and verify accurate insurance information, validate benefits, secure authorizations, and collect pre-service payments
• Initiate the overall patient experience and begin the billing process for hospital services

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two to five years’ experience in scheduling, financial clearance, or patient access
• National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire
• Proficiency in Patient Registration and Patient Accounting systems and related software
• Comprehensive knowledge of financial clearance and insurance verification processes with at least two years of financial clearance experience in an acute-care setting

Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Associate’s Degree
• Three or more years of scheduling experience in an acute-care setting with mastery in at least three modalities
• Experience in complex, facility-based ancillary testing across multiple facilities or states
• Strong knowledge of third-party and government payer billing and reimbursement guidelines
• Familiarity with department performance standards, policies, and procedures
