Responsibilities
- Prepare master nursing time schedule for 24-hour coverage to comply with state requirements (monthly, with Director of Nursing Services approval)
- Replace call-ins
- Prepare daily hourly report based on census and review with Director of Nursing Services
- Review and address associate absenteeism or tardiness requiring counseling
- Handle employment applications: prescreening interviews, reference checks, scheduling, and orientation coordination with in-service director
- Complete paperwork for new associate orientation
- Set up associate personnel file folders as required
- Prepare nursing physical and evaluation due list; notify Director of Nursing Services of past-due items
- Run errands to doctor’s office and post office
- Maintain tickler file for reported out-of-building incidents
- Ensure recertifications are signed in a timely manner
- Start MRQ forms monthly as required
- Log in-service on individual associate files as directed by Director of Nursing/In-service Director
- Maintain good communication with all nursing departments and other center departments
- Attend nursing meetings and keep written minutes as directed by Director of Nursing
- Assist with direct patient care duties as directed (e.g., bedding, passing nourishment, serving trays, feeding)
- Promote the image and reputation of the System through servant leadership and open communication
- Contribute to committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts
- Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate professionally with associates, patients, family members, and visitors
- Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals)
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals)
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram format
- Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
