About the Role
The Scheduler/Receptionist performs clerical and administrative tasks within the radiology department, ensuring smooth operations and excellent patient communication.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and manage appointments, including scheduling and patient arrival for procedures.
- Assist patients with screening forms and associated paperwork.
- Handle in-person and phone communications professionally.
- Monitor Radiology wait times to keep patients and families informed during visits.
- Cover diverse tasks such as file room management, CD uploads, escalation of radiology read requests, and patient billing.
- Adhere to patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate competence in IDX for ICD-10 use, billing details, scheduling, reporting, and reception functions.
- Interact professionally through personal, telephone, or written communication, providing appropriate assistance.
- Report patient complaints, problems, or unusual occurrences immediately to appropriate staff.
- Retrieve and fax reports to requesting physicians, nursing units, physician offices, and ancillary departments.
- Schedule all procedures correctly for Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT, Diagnostic, and Mammography.
- Transport patients to floor units or emergency departments if required.
- Flexibility for coverage during operational hours, including rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CPR BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required within 3 months of employment).
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with PACS and EPIC preferred.
Schedule
- Full-Time, Days: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
- Holiday rotation as needed.
Pay
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour. The compensation offered will depend on the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
