Scheduler Lead - Patient Access Center

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an understanding of payor rules and requirements for insurance authorizations
  • Utilizes EPIC reports/work queue to ensure all components of the scheduling requirements are met prior to services
  • To ensure timely resolution, monitors work queue activity
  • Documents all activity on the patient account and appropriately documents and gathers patient demographic insurance information
  • Participates in staff training to increase understanding of specific payor requirements, scheduling protocols and general functionality
  • Adheres to productivity measures as outlined by management
  • Adheres to quality assurance measures as outlined by management
  • Maintains an understanding of EPIC within the scope of the job performed
  • Works with the assigned payor to achieve resolution
  • Schedules patients appropriately based upon location instructions, patient demographics and payor requirements
  • Maintains strict confidentiality
  • Directly affects accuracy of patient’s account and maximum reimbursement for organization
  • Responsible for personal safety and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Ensures work area is clean and clutter free
  • Affords assistance as requested to update and input for department policy
  • Inputs as requested by department manager
  • Decisions must be made daily in resolving complex scheduling scenarios
  • Must be able to accurately read payor communication and act accordingly
  • Solving: Must be able to recognize discrepancies and resolve appropriately
  • This position is responsible for identifying areas of process improvement through denial management, claim rejections and patient delays
  • Routine contact with patients will be made on a regular basis in conducting scheduling activity related conversations
  • The Scheduler Lead helps coordinate scheduling with associates
  • This position is responsible for making interpreter arrangements
  • Uses oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission
  • Maintains established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
  • Implements job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code of Ethics and supportive of CHRISTUS Health’s cultural diversity objectives
  • Supports and adheres to CHRISTUS Service Guarantee
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support PIC operations
