Sanitor 2 - 2nd Shift

About the role

Reports to the Sanitation Supervisor and is responsible for completing all duties and tasks assigned before their work shift ends. The purpose of the Sanitor is to aid in the breakdown, cleaning/disinfecting, and reassembly of food production equipment to ensure all food safety standards are maintained. This position works a non-traditional schedule where weekends are part of the expected work week.

Responsibilities

  • Use water, chemicals, and sanitizer to clean and sanitize equipment and production rooms daily
  • Perform detailed sanitation and upkeep of the facility and ensure all processing equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized to meet food product processing standards
  • Sweep and squeegee floors
  • Disassemble and assemble equipment
  • Clean equipment and machinery
  • Identify and report food safety and food quality issues
  • Follow all OSHA safety guidelines required by the company
  • Comply with GMP and food safety guidelines
  • Work within a cold and wet environment and wear specified company-provided protective gear at all times

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Related training or at least one month of related experience
  • Mechanically inclined with an emphasis on disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of processing equipment

Training Requirements

Must meet the required job-specific training located in the Training Register.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and potential exposure to sulphuric acid (electric battery) and carbon monoxide from propane-fueled forklifts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
