About the role
The New and Used Vehicle Sales Consultants are directly responsible for selling new and used vehicles at dealership gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction standards.
Responsibilities
- Conducts self in a manner which is consistent with guaranteeing satisfaction to customers.
- Determines each customer’s vehicle needs by asking questions and listening.
- Demonstrates new vehicles (includes test drives).
- Delivers new vehicles to customers, ensuring the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty and paperwork, and lays the foundation for customer loyalty.
- Attends sales meetings.
- Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
- Maintains prospect development system.
- Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefit to customers.
- Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
- Reports to the New or Used Vehicle Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews and analyses.
- Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
- Understands the terminology of the automobile business and keeps abreast of technological changes in the product.
- Knows and understands equity and values and has the ability to explain depreciation to the customer.
- Knows and understands the federal, state and local laws, which govern retail auto sales.
- Introduces customers to Service Department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of the dealership’s service operations.
- Completes monthly manufacturer trainings to stay certified (some have in-store trainings occasionally throughout the year).
- Assists in snow removal and snow clean up (non-essential).
Qualifications
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information, both written and oral.
- High School diploma or the equivalent.
- Valid in-state driver’s license.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to sell a minimum quota according to dealership standards.

Schedule
- Monday–Friday/Saturday.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
