About the Role
The Event Sales Manager will solicit new event accounts, maintain relationships with existing accounts, and meet or exceed food and beverage revenue goals. This role involves coordinating and overseeing client functions to ensure an exceptional experience, monitoring contractual agreements, and effectively communicating with all hotel departments to execute group needs while maintaining outstanding client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Handle inquiry calls, proposals, negotiations, and contracts for wedding leads according to departmental procedures.
- Schedule site visits and assist walk-in clients to ensure a positive impression.
- Sell event and private dining space using departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure event details are accurate and entered into the sales and catering system.
- Generate and close wedding and social event contracts, including catering, event space, and accommodations.
- Creatively resolve guest concerns or challenges using business acumen and discretion.
- Interact with services, banquet, and culinary teams to ensure smooth client experiences.
- Achieve sales goals using creative methods to close business.
- Serve as Manager on Duty on a regular basis.
- Provide quarterly production data to the Director of Sales and Marketing.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and provide business updates.
- Work closely with the reservations team to manage room blocks effectively.
- Maintain continuity by following up with clients once events are confirmed and passed to service and operations teams.
Requirements
- Previous event sales experience strongly preferred.
- Luxury hotel experience strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of hospitality sales experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Familiarity with food and beverage basics, menu planning, and private/group event coordination.
- Ability to effectively communicate with guests, management, and co-workers.
- Knowledge of current wedding trends.
- Computer proficiency, including Delphi, Excel, and Microsoft Office programs.
Physical Requirements
- Most work tasks are performed indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 6 hours per day.
- Walking and standing are required for the remainder of the working day, including traveling to and from meetings.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening, hearing ability, and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in communication with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.
- Vision tasks include near vision and depth perception.
- Must have finger dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and filing cabinets.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $80,000.00, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions.
