About the role

The primary focus of this role is to develop relationships with licensed health insurance brokers and agencies in order to sell Nationwide's Benefits health insurance products for groups of 2-50. Our team of 10 creates a tight-knit office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Target and build relationships with licensed health insurance agents/brokers via phone, email, and in-person meetings (leads provided) to sell Nationwide's small group health insurance products
  • Prospect, execute RFPs, and facilitate the full sales cycle
  • Evaluate agent performance and continually recruit new agents
  • Provide guidance to agents in developing selling strategies to obtain new and retain existing business
  • Travel throughout the territory on relevant sales meetings and seminars (Up to 20%)
  • Actively utilize the internal sales tracking system to validate and record sales calls, quotes, and recruited brokers
  • Consult with agents throughout the sales process
  • Provide timely communication to agents on product offerings, network changes, rate changes, and plan designs
  • Obtain a Life/A&H license in state of residence and any other state that the incumbent conducts business
  • Recruit new producers, train, and set growth objectives for assigned producers
  • Make qualified calls on groups with producers and provide enrollment support on a new producer’s first couple of accounts opened
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with sales support, underwriting, policyholder services, billing support, compliance, commission accounting, home office personnel, and field management
  • Motivate and develop producers throughout assigned areas in the region
  • Contribute to effective relationships between the producers and home office departments
  • Analyze markets and formulate recruiting programs to secure producers who will effectively produce quality premiums
  • Work with producers to help bring value to their existing book of business and develop new opportunities
  • Implement and monitor procedures to improve persistency of business written in assigned area

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and work-related experience
  • 2+ years of sales-related experience preferred, not required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and learn quickly
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
  • High degree of initiative, mature judgment, and self-motivation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization
  • Must be able and willing to travel
  • Ability to keep confidential information secured
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software related to the job
  • 5+ years of experience preferred
  • CEBS, CLU, and/or ChFC preferred
  • Sales communication and relationship-building skills required
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to stay current on sales and marketing techniques and changes in state and federal law that affect the Company’s sales efforts and impact the insurance industry in general
  • Experience in recruitment and management of insurance sales force

Pay

The national salary range for Hybrid Wholesaler - Group Benefits Small Market is $47,500-$80,168.40. The expected starting salary range for this role is $47,500.

Schedule

  • Daily in-office expectations
  • Role requires minimal travel (up to 20%)

Office Location: The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of Downers Grove, Illinois (1400 Opus Place). This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.
