Responsibilities
- Serve as the shift point of contact for Safety & Security Officers by communicating daily priorities, posts, patrols, events, incidents, staffing needs, guest-impacting concerns, and pending follow-up items.
- Conduct shift briefings and pass-downs that clearly communicate VIP arrivals, group activity, special events, safety concerns, property conditions, active incidents, management updates, and unresolved operational issues.
- Provide shift-level direction to officers regarding patrols, post coverage, radio communication, break coverage, key control, access control, lost and found, report completion, guest service support, and emergency readiness.
- Develop leadership presence by guiding officers professionally, setting expectations clearly, following up on assigned tasks, and modeling the standards expected of the Safety & Security Department.
- Reinforce department standards for professionalism, grooming, punctuality, radio readiness, confidentiality, respectful communication, documentation quality, guest interaction, and teamwork.
- Support officer development by assisting with onboarding, refresher training, patrol expectations, report-writing guidance, emergency procedure review, guest service expectations, and proper use of department systems.
- Coach officers in real time when documentation, communication, patrol completion, guest interaction, or procedural compliance needs clarification or improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality of security reports, investigations, guest information, team member information, access-control information, camera footage, and sensitive hotel documents.
- Perform all duties of a Safety & Security Officer as needed and complete additional safety or security-related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Security or hotel leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Minimum of one year of security officer experience in a high-volume setting preferred.
- Previous hospitality experience in a Four Diamond or luxury lifestyle hotel environment preferred.
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving background/criminal history record as required by property standards.
- Knowledge of basic security practices, investigative methods, emergency response, fire safety practices, and hotel loss prevention preferred.
- Certification in alcohol awareness program, or ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
- Valid CPR and first aid certification, or ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write in basic English.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully in verbal and written form.
- Ability to compute basic arithmetic and complete required documentation accurately.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, nights, and flexible shifts based on operational needs.
