Job Summary
The Direct Service Associate III is responsible for facilitating supportive and therapeutic interventions, engaging in individual patient interactions, acting as a liaison between the treatment team and direct care staff, and serving as a positive role model to patients.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate supportive and therapeutic interventions
- Engage in individual patient interactions consistent with treatment team recommendations
- Act as liaison between treatment team and direct care staff
- Provide constructive input related to treatment, milieu, and clinical issues
- Serve as positive, professional role model to patients
- Communicate positive and negative consequences of behavior choices
- Participate in unit community meetings
- Maintain therapeutic boundaries with patients and provide appropriate redirection when necessary
- Monitor, observe, intervene, and report safety issues, including patient and staff behavior, and environmental issues
- Respond to patient issues and behavioral codes
- Perform safety rounds as ordered by physician and document in the electronic health record
- Maintain cleanliness of the unit and report non-working equipment and safety concerns
- Document unusual behavior or changes in behavior and report to professional staff
- Ensure accurate and timely records for behavioral interventions
Qualifications
- Ability to use computerized forms for data entry
- Excellent oral and written communications
- Prioritize and complete concurrent work demands
- Work independently
- Problem-solve and make decisions
- Knowledge of Catawba Hospital’s safety protocols
Additional Considerations
- Previous experience in healthcare or security preferred
