About the role
As a Renewables Safety Manager, you will oversee and implement the company’s Safety Program at construction projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and corporate environmental, health, and safety regulations. This is a traveling position (up to 100%) with assignments lasting 8–12 months on average. You’ll be placed on project sites across the U.S. and spend 60% of your time in the field. A vehicle and designated daily per diem are provided to support living expenses, and routine travel home (rotation) from the jobsite is eligible.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the safety program on complex construction projects.
- Conduct workplace safety checks, identify infractions, and initiate Stop Work Authority when necessary.
- Provide direction and guidance to onsite construction staff on corrective actions to eliminate hazards and mitigate future risk.
- Foster Safety Leadership to create enthusiasm and participation among management and craft workers, driving excellent safety performance.
- Participate in and monitor the jobsite R4 Safety Committee, presenting results to site management.
- Chair or assist in site safety committee and R4 meetings; review R4 documents and present information to management.
- Attend weekly general safety, supervisor safety, and daily Gang box meetings.
- Communicate between the company and client management regarding safety matters.
- Input and review incident reports; monitor all site safety reports and maintain the site bulletin board for postings.
- Track, compile, and present leading indicator statistics to the project leadership team.
- Maintain jobsite first aid and emergency response supplies; administer drug and alcohol testing on site.
- Identify workplace safety hazards and guide site management in corrective actions; document actions on daily activity reports.
- Implement the Zero Injury System of safety excellence on projects.
- Understand and enforce safety policies, procedures, and environmental permitting regulations to ensure compliance.
- Implement the company environmental program and perform weekly inspections as required.
- Lead site inspections and testing; compile DFR in a timely fashion.
- Review safety program documentation, record keeping, trenching and scaffold permitting, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Participate in planning and implementing a Hazard Communication Program in compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
- Present safety emphasis topics to site employees as identified.
- Assist in emergency responses and partner with management to write, organize, and implement job site safety plans.
- Work directly with the Project Manager and management team to develop, implement, and maintain an effective site-specific safety plan.
- Collaborate with the Safety Department on program oversight, project training needs, injury management, citation management, OSHA/MSHA reporting, and other applicable matters.
- Oversee the company injury management program; establish a working relationship with a local physician and provide basic first aid training.
- Coordinate and present safety training to support company and client requirements (e.g., Planning, Documentation, New Hire Orientation, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory).
- Invest time in enhancing apprentices’ skills and knowledge; champion the apprenticeship process.
- Provide a positive environment to support coaching and mentoring of apprentices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2–5 years of construction safety management experience, demonstrating the ability to provide high-level safety leadership to both management and craft workers (experience requirements vary by level: 2–3 years for Safety Manager I, 3–5 years for Safety Manager II, 5+ years for Safety Manager III).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred (required for Safety Manager III).
- CHST or other BCSP certification preferred; must obtain CHST within one year of position entry (Safety Manager I/II) or within six months (Safety Manager III).
- Functional computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong report writing and communication skills with accurate grammar.
- Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, record keeping, and injury management.
- CPR/First Aid Instructor certification and training experience.
- Commitment to working toward Professional certification (e.g., CHST, CMSP) within 6 months of starting the position.
- Ability to take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety, aligning with the company’s Zero Injury principles.

Pay
$90,000–$120,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
