SUMMARY

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Engineer II who can interact with various staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, maintaining flexibility, resourcefulness, and professionalism.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members
  • Aid project management team in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activities
  • Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level
  • Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
  • Conduct work area safety audits
  • Collect and analyze leading and trailing indicator data/document
  • Conduct or assist with major incident analysis
  • Record, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics
  • Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field; or
  • High school diploma, STS/CHST Certification, OSHA 30 Hour Training, and at least seven years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work, including at least five years with safety program responsibilities
  • Minimum of one year of related experience
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software
  • Positive attitude with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
  • Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Current driver’s license
  • Ability to travel up to 100%

PAY

The base pay range for this role is $81,000 Min to $110,400 Max. (Actual range is higher for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
