SUMMARY

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Engineer II who can interact with various staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The role involves implementing Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program at a project site and ensuring a safe work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members
  • Aid project management team in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activities
  • Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level
  • Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
  • Conduct work area safety audits
  • Collect and analyze leading and trailing indicator data/document
  • Conduct or assist with major incident analysis
  • Record, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics
  • Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field; or
  • High school diploma, STS/CHST Certification, OSHA 30 Hour Training, and at least seven years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work, including at least five years with responsibility for managing safety programs at the crew or project level, conducting and reviewing hazard analyses, and developing controls, planning work activities
  • Minimum of one year of related experience
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant safety-related software programs
  • Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate company policies to team members and external parties
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Current driver’s license
  • Ability to travel up to 100%

PAY

The base pay range for this role is $81,800 - $110,400. (Actual range is higher for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
