About the role

The school counseling program at Spokane Valley Tech is modeled based on recommendations from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) framework. The program aims to serve every student with a particular focus in academic counseling and planning, social and emotional support, and college and career readiness.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes
• Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum focused on the mindsets and behaviors needed for postsecondary readiness and success
• Close achievement and opportunity gaps among student populations
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support student success
• Use data-informed decision making to guide program development and implementation
• Ensure systematic delivery of services to all students
• Support students in achieving academic, social, and emotional goals
• Work towards improving student attendance and discipline

Qualifications

• A master's degree in school counseling or closely related field
• Valid Washington State School Counselor Certification
• Experience working with diverse student populations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders
• Knowledge of ASCA National Model and its application in school counseling programs
