About the role
A Runner at Soho House is responsible for a range of tasks including preparing tables, serving orders, explaining meals, and facilitating collaboration between kitchen and servers. As a Food Runner, your goal will be to provide members and guests with outstanding customer service and actively help to improve their overall dining experience. A successful Runner thrives in a fast-paced environment, can problem solve in high-pressure situations, and remains calm, approachable, and professional.
Responsibilities
- Follow Steps of Service set by Soho House & Co, including refilling water glasses and coffee cups, clearing finished dishes, crumbing the table, replenishing table supplies, and expediting food orders.
- Accommodate special requests from guests or provide alternative solutions that better suit business needs, or advise management for further assessment.
- Thrive in a high-volume and elevated service environment.
- Ensure seamless service by thinking quickly, anticipating guest and member needs, and supporting servers, the Executive Chef, and the General Manager.
- Ensure food orders are plated and coursed correctly before serving to members/guests.
- Adhere to health and safety policies (allergy procedures), company processes, and local, state, and federal laws.
- Work as one team to serve members and guests their food and/or drink items in a timely manner, and support the team by running items from expo and service bar outside of your section.
- Clean and stock server alley and expo area.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the menu and make suggestions when asked by members and/or guests.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar capacity.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments and maintain composure while problem-solving under pressure.
- Must be hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service, and respectful toward colleagues and guests.
- Must demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to take direction, work in a team environment, and autonomously.
- OLCC-certified and POS knowledge.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
- Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
- Fast-paced movements are required to navigate different parts of the club.
- Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
- Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.
