Seasonal Runner - Soho House New York
About the role
A Runner at Soho House is responsible for a range of tasks including preparing tables, serving orders, explaining meals, and facilitating collaboration between kitchen and servers. As a Food Runner, your goal will be to provide members and guests with outstanding customer service and actively help to improve their overall dining experience. A successful Runner thrives in a fast-paced environment, can problem solve in high-pressure situations, and remains calm, approachable, and professional.
Responsibilities
- Follow Steps of Service set by Soho House & Co, including but not limited to:
- Refill water glasses and coffee cups
- Clear finished dishes
- Crumb the table
- Replenish all table supplies
- Expedite food orders
- Accommodate special requests from guests or provide alternative solutions that better suit business needs; advise management for further assessment and options
- Thrive in a high-volume and elevated service environment, ensuring seamless service by anticipating guest and member needs and supporting servers, the Executive Chef, and General Manager
- Ensure food orders are plated and coursed out correctly before serving to members/guests
- Adhere to health and safety policies (allergy procedures) and all company processes, procedures, and standards, as well as local, state, and federal laws
- Work as one team with the goal of serving members and guests their food and/or drink items in a timely manner; support the team by running items from expo and service bar outside of your section
- Clean and stock server alley and expo area
- Demonstrate knowledge of the menu and make suggestions when asked by members and/or guests
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar capacity
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments and maintain composure while problem-solving under pressure
- Hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service, and respectful toward colleagues and guests
- Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School
- Ability to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to take direction, work in a team environment, and work autonomously
- Tips certified and POS knowledge
Physical Requirements
- Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands
- Ability to work on your feet for at least 8 hours
- Fast-paced movements required to navigate different parts of the club
- Ability to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds
- Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required

Pay
In accordance with New York law, the salary range for this role if filled within New York is $12—$12 USD. The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
