Rolling Equipment (Forklift) Operator - Shipping
About the role
MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Rolling Equipment (Forklift) Operator in Shipping in our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America.
Responsibilities
Responsible for operating all rolling equipment (forklifts) to move, locate, relocate, pick, and stack products. Accurately counts products; ensuring the product is free of damage for inbound and outbound shipments and assuring all paperwork, labeling, and addressing of orders to correspond to in-house and customer specifications or other requirements.
- Lifts and moves cartons from conveyor and places in appropriate drop zone (pallet).
- Places full pallet and partial pallet picks in designated areas.
- Loads outbound trucks.
- Counts to make sure inbound and outbound freight has correct full pallet, case quantities.
- Prepares product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded for shipment.
- Ensures that receipts/orders are complete and counts verified.
- Keeps lead or supervisor advised of any shortages, problems, and incorrect labels/markings.
- Ensures the accuracy of all receipt/shipping documents.
- Ensures the receipt/shipping counts match all documents and bill of ladings.
- Assists in resolving any discrepancies.
- Uses various devices (scanners and Pick-To-Voice).
- Ensures that all work instructions are followed exactly and updates the lead or supervisor when completed.
- Assists in cycle counting.
- Moves full pallets to shrink wrapping machine using appropriate equipment
- Inspects cartons/pallets for damage.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Conducts operations in a manner that promotes safety.
- Enforces established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures in order to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage.

- Complies with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondences, and memos, write legibly and effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations of employees in the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions, and to deal with standardized structure with only occasional or no variables.
- Computer skills to include basic knowledge of PCs and keyboarding and a working knowledge of WMS.
- Must be able to operate a turret truck, order picker, Pacer, forklift, reach truck, walkie/rider, pallet jack, and work at elevations of 35' feet wearing PPE (safety harness).

Pay
Hourly Pay Rate: $19.1900 to $23.8400
