About the role
The Roadway Programs Technician 1 position with the Department of Transportation supports important data collection efforts across the state. This role involves working with specialized testing equipment and learning about roadway systems and pavement conditions.
Responsibilities
Testing Support: Assist with pavement testing programs by driving test vehicles, helping operate equipment, and collecting roadway data.
Equipment Assistance: Help clean, maintain, and repair testing vehicles and tools used in data collection activities.
Data Processing: Scan, edit, organize, and prepare roadway documents and files for system updates.
Quality Review: Evaluate pavement condition data and help verify information according to program standards.
Field Activities: Assist with site selection, traffic control, and marking tasks for testing locations.
Team Coordination: Support technicians and management staff with meetings, reports, and daily program needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training .
Other Requirements: Possession of a current Class C driver's license which is not under suspension. Must meet the PA residency requirement.
