About the role
Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Grapevine is seeking a Trauma Process Improvement Coordinator RN to join their dedicated team. This position is available as a Full-Time Day Shift, with varying 8 or 10-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to create a Trauma Process Improvement Program.
- Ensure the trauma program meets local regulations and accreditation standards.
- Track patient care issues in trauma process improvement, ensuring accurate tracking for resolution.
- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate processes and education improvements for trauma patient care.
- Integrate the trauma registry into the trauma PI process.
- Update Trauma Department Dashboards and review PI project results for dashboard metrics.
- Create trauma education programs following new trauma care guidelines and based on research and evidence.
- Provide trauma education in the Emergency Department.
- Cookout outreach education programs like ATLS, ATCN, and TNCC.
- Participate in community and hospital outreach programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Within 30 days of hire, obtain BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Within 12 months of hire, complete the Trauma Outcome Performance Improvement Course.
- Within 30 days of hire, obtain PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course).
- Within 180 days of hire, complete ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- Within 180 days of hire, complete either the Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses course or the Trauma Nurse Core Course.
- 3 years of recent RN experience, including 1 year in ICU or ER in a Trauma Level 1 or 2 hospital.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with trauma process improvement, its terms, and standards.
- Awareness and proficiency in established standards and procedures relating to nursing and patient care.
- Insight into laws, rules, regulations, standards, protocols, and policies governing nursing care in your assigned department.
- Understanding of medical terms and promotion of health, management of diseases, and prevention of illness.
- Knowledge of medications, their effects, dosages, and side effects.
- Understanding of professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
Skills

- Proficiency in trauma registry software.
