About the role

We provide direct patient care in a specialty unit. Responsibilities include delegating care, planning and implementing care plans, monitoring patients, educating patients and families, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
• May precept student nurses and new hires.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment.
• Maintains accurate documentation and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates learning needs of the patient and family and provides appropriate education.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and psychosocial support needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• National Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• APHON (American Professional Health Association) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card
• ONCC (Office of Cancer Control) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider certificate
• Completion of relevant RN fellowship programs as required

• One (1) year of nursing experience required.

Department specific credentials

• ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate Required for those RN's administering chemotherapy.
• APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card required within 12 months of hire for those RNs administering chemotherapy for oncologic indication within the pediatric setting.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op and Specialty Procedural areas.
• PALS required for Pediatric areas with the exception of NICU.
• If RN is coming from a non-pediatric background, they have 30 days from date of hire to obtain PALS.
• NRP certification required for NICU – if RN is coming from a non NICU background, they have 30 days from date of hire to obtain NRP.
• Certification in Fetal Monitoring through National Credential Center or through AWOHNN (Intermediate or Advanced) for L&D RNs must be completed prior to completion of job orientation.
