About the Role

We are seeking experienced PICU nurses to join our award-winning, nationally-recognized healthcare system in Hollywood, Florida. Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and/or psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of the patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
  • May precept student nurses and new hires.

Qualifications

  • Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)
  • Active Registered Nurse License (RN) in the State of Florida or Compact RN Multistate License
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Grace Period)
  • PALS Certification (American Heart Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, Red Cross, or Grace Period) required for pediatric areas (30 days to obtain if coming from a non-pediatric background)

Requirements

  • One (1) year of nursing experience required.
  • Department-specific credentials, including:
    • ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate for RNs administering chemotherapy.
    • APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card within 12 months of hire for pediatric oncology.
    • ACLS required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op, and Specialty Procedural areas.
    • NRP certification required for NICU (30 days to obtain if coming from a non-NICU background).
    • Fetal Monitoring Certification for L&D RNs (Intermediate or Advanced) prior to completion of orientation.
  • RN Fellowship Program requires one (1) year of RN independent practice (not inclusive of orientation) and ACLS/BLS certifications.
  • Newly licensed RNs have six (6) months to obtain ACLS and/or PALS.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This role involves exposure to various physical and environmental conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Biohazardous waste, blood, and bodily fluids (80%)
  • Lifting/carrying patients (35 pounds or greater, 80%)
  • Standing, walking, and repetitive hand/arm movements (80%)
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals and medications (80%)
  • Potential for physical assault (40%)
