Job Summary
Geisinger is offering a full-time Inpatient RN position with a hiring incentive of up to $21,500 for eligible candidates. The position offers a minimum wage of $41.50 with potential increases for experience and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Relocation assistance is also available.
Job Duties
- Affirms plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet patient needs.
- Promotes adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve optimal care, safety, and satisfaction.
- Exhibits compassionate care during interactions with patients and families.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
- Completes assessments as per scope of practice and unit standards.
- Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
- Formulates, coordinates, and provides a plan of care, including patient and family education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
- Provides direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises the plan of care based on patient response.
- Collaborates with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to address patient needs.
- Participates in problem-solving and troubleshooting to ensure proper care and handling of equipment.
- Participates in unit-based decision-making and utilizes evidence-based practice.
- Acts proactively to resolve patient needs and participates in departmental and organizational quality and safety initiatives.
- Engages in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Qualifications
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program-Nursing.
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Basic Life Support Certification.

Work Schedule
Full time, Day/Night rotation, .9 FTE (36 hours/week), no call, every other weekend, every other holiday. Opportunity to transition to Day/Evening rotation by seniority. Self-scheduling allowed for flexible schedule.
Unit Description
The Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 24-bed critical care unit focusing on advanced acute care patients. It features a multidisciplinary care team and closed service with providers on-site. The unit operates in shared governance, allowing charge nurses and unit staff to make decisions impacting professional practice and day-to-day operations. Staff are supported by the Operations Manager, two Team Coordinators, and two Clinical Nurse Educators. The ICU offers opportunities for professional growth, including charge nurse, precepting, shared governance councils, metric champions, unit committees, career enhancement programs, unit practice councils, evidence-based practice projects, and more!
