RN Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit

About the role

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for the ICU at Community Medical Center.

Responsibilities

• ICU nurses play a key role in providing patient care under the supervision of doctors
• Routinely perform head-to-toe physical examinations of patients, administer medication and provide wound care
• Interact with families to provide updates on their patients' condition and seek medical decisions
• React quickly to emergency situations and demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in life-or-death situations
• Work overtime or take irregular shifts as needed
• Provide nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards
• Achieve awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics
• Maintain a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assume responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available
• Report identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors
• Ensure knowledge of the patient population served
• Supervise and direct the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborate with other patient care providers
• Set and evaluate priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement
• Act as an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilize the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualize the plan of care to address a specific patient's needs

Requirements

• ASN or Nursing Diploma
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills

Qualifications

• BLS certification
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
• BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire (preferred)

Pay

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
