About the role

This position requires administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trial infusions, and other infusion-related services, as well as performing blood work, dressing changes, and injections in a fast-paced outpatient infusion center setting. This position also requires caring for Cellular Transplant patients. This position will be trained to care for patients enrolled in clinical trials. The role involves assessing, intervening, and collaborating with the healthcare team in caring for a wide variety of oncology and non-oncology patients, including patient education. Expert clinical decision-making and responsiveness to medical emergencies are essential. The position will participate in performance improvement initiatives and unit-based council meetings to strengthen clinical excellence.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trial infusions, and other infusion-related services.
• Perform blood work, dressing changes, and injections.
• Care for Cellular Transplant patients and those enrolled in clinical trials.
• Assess, intervene, and collaborate with the healthcare team for oncology and non-oncology patients, including patient education.
• Exercise expert clinical decision-making and responsiveness to medical emergencies.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and unit-based council meetings.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification with recent experience (within the last 6 months).
• Minimum one (1) year of recent (within the last 6 months) oncology infusion center or acute care oncology experience actively administering a wide variety of chemotherapy regimens and corresponding knowledge of oncology diagnoses and treatments.
• Proven independent thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, consistently demonstrating empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN.
• Recent infusion center experience.
• BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) experience.
• Clinical Trials Infusion experience.
• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification.

Special Conditions

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
• Must be able to work at least 3 weekend days a month.
• May be required to work at any infusion location.
• Selected candidates may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay

Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86
